What we do at Proactive AI Lab

We are building a new, proprietary AI system of multi-agents, multimodal-to-action models, combined with an unrivaled emotional intelligence language model that will empower businesses to scale and grow, by delivering a high-touch customer experience with automation and efficiency.

My entire life’s work has led to this moment

This is truly the most exciting part of my career, as I embark on this journey to build powerful AI to enable businesses and entrepreneurs around the world. Since I unboxed my first computer, I have believed in the power of software to transform people’s lives for the better. To this end, I have always stayed focused on the very tip of the cutting edge in technology.

I’ve worked in AI before it was even called “AI”!  Building human-empowering software with intelligence, from the last startup I founded, Alike– which was acquired by Yahoo to create personalized recommendations, Zillow’s Zestimate for the value of your home, LinkedIn’ matching algorithm to connect job seekers with recruiters, and Tinder’s AI dating coach.

Over the last few years, I also led the AI for Products team at Meta, and most recently at Google. As I firsthand experienced the amazing advancement of AI technology at these big tech companies, it was astonishing to see the lack of adoption broadly across industries and in a wider set of scenarios.

I am convinced a high EQ empathic AI Agent will be an important change agent of our time.

I envision Proactive AI to be the epitome of how intelligent software can spark contagious joy – our AI products will grant businesses the joy of success, and in turn, those businesses will serve joy to their customers.

For Proactive AI  to make a positive impact on the world, I am engrossed in engineering with purpose. I take this work extremely personally. Everything we do, every line of code we write, needs to be undeniably intentional. Every pixel should be perfect, and every byte of data needs a reason to exist.

I thought I would never start another company again. But this time, I did it not for myself but for our marvelously talented team. Including my co-founder Professor Steve Liu, who is a top AI researcher in the world. Steve has been a professor at McGill for 17 years and was recently the chief scientist at Samsung AI Center. When Steve and I last collaborated, we led Tinder to winning the Innovation Award in 2017 for our AI Dating Coach. He has authored/co-authored over 380 fully-referred publications in top venues in computer science and engineering as well as 4 books/monographs that have won many awards.

We are now a fast growing team of 8 full time researchers and engineers. It is such an honor for me to assemble and lead this amazing team.
